I need to speak with the owner of Costco stat. I have a little complaint. Okay, so a really big complaint, as in the really big sized shampoo/conditioner bottles they sell. Can someone require them to have a pump, please? I mean, seriously. I'm in the shower this morning (I sure do talk a lot about the shower, sorry about that) trying to get a handful of conditioner out of the larger than life bottle. And aside from the fact that it is super slippery and weighs twenty pounds, it won't come out. Now this is a fairly new bottle, it's not like I'm scraping the barrel here. I mean, it's not even close to the point where I add water, put the lid back on, and shake until I have at least 2 more uses (3 if I'm lucky).
The flaw in the system is that the bottle is just too big. It needs two hands. But one hand is being held out, waiting in vain for the conditioner that the other hand is trying its hardest to squeeze out. Now let me tell you, it is important not to drop twenty pound bottles of conditioner, because they really hurt when they hit your foot (not that I know, I'm just saying). The only solution, I found out this morning, is to use one hand to smash the bottle up against your chin, and finally the blessed, tangle-reducing nectar flows into your hand. A pump would solve all my problems. I'm tired just thinking about the fact that I have to do this again tomorrow. Have I mentioned the bottle is huge? I'm going to have it for a while. I guess I'll just count it as my work out for the day and stop complaining. I think some things just aren't meant to be bought in bulk.
LOLOL! Okay, so I'll give you the pumps to our super-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner while you're here. LOL! The bottles are almost empty now, besides the kids use them. They won't miss the pumps at all. Our shampoo come in normal bottles! Hehehe!
ReplyDeleteGo to Sally's or some other salon/beauty supply store and get you some pumps! I'd hate to read about how you smashed your toe in the shower. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I have a super-size bottle, I transfer it into an empty smaller bottle I have on hand, just for the ease.
ReplyDeleteI, too, have the huge, super-duper sized shampoo and conditioner (not from Costco, mind you... Logan is too lame to have one I guess). I feel your pain. I have often wished for a pump too, but I guess you have to compromise. You either get a mega deal on lots of product and risk injury, or you get smaller bottles without the risk, but sacrifice bucks. If your girls are like mine, the product will be used VERY generously, and your bottle will be lighter in a few days anyway, so hang in there! ;-)
ReplyDeleteJust use two hands and squeeze it right on to your head. What? You won't know how much is up there? Isn't that the fun part?
ReplyDeleteI have one of those pumps you stick on the wall and just refill periodically. It's great because I don't have to store anything on the shower floor. You can get them at Bed Bath and Beyond if you want to pay three times what they're worth or Lowes if you just want to pay a normal price. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and how dare you malign my favorite store!
I carried a bottle of juice out of Costco and my arms were sore for three days. What they do to us weaklings is abuse. (I am not suggesting you are weak):)
ReplyDeletehaha so true. I have a membership at a beauty supply and so I buy my fav stuff in gallon size... yes, by choice LOL
ReplyDeleteLuckily they sell pumps for like $1 and I love it. If you want I can send you some LOL :)
I'm going to Costco tonight. I'll cross off that huge bottle on my list. Not sure I want that now...
ReplyDeleteWow, you guys are all so nice. So worried about my safety and shower comfort that you are either willing to send/give me pumps or tell me where to find them. LOL
ReplyDeleteI also like Nat's idea of the "guess how much conditioner you're going to use today" game, by just dumping it directly on to my head. That sound like a fun shower game.
Candi, a pump I stick on the wall?? Is it something I can work because you know how incompetent I am.
And Michelle, you have me laughing. Yes, run away from the big bottles.
Kasie, you crack me up! Seriously, you have a gift of making the everyday parenting/life things hilarious.
ReplyDeleteAww, Renee, you flatter me so. (I'm a sucker for flattery)
ReplyDeleteI have to comment because I SO feel your pain. Except not with the big costco bottles, but with the big beauty supply store bottles (same thing). It's such a better deal if you buy the big bottles so even though I go to the checkout counter with the small bottles in hand b/c I hate dealing with the big ones, I ALWAYS get talked into getting the big bottles by the clerk. Am I a sucker? Yes! They make me feel guilty by pounding into me how much more economical it is to go with the big ones. I am weak, so I give in, go back to the shelf & put my lovely small bottles back & sadly haul my 90 pound bottle of shampoo & cond. out the door, thus spending the next 4 months cursing myself for not getting the small bottles. It really is a hard life.
ReplyDeleteBy the way Kasie.. I tagged you on my blog. I figured you would check this blog comment more than your family blog comment, but you can do the TAG on your family blog... if you want, of course. No pressure. Everyone is doing it. :-)
ReplyDeleteHI!
ReplyDeleteI'm one of your "followers." :-)
I know this is totally unrelated to your post and I apologize. I just didnt know any other way to get in touch with you.
I wanted to let you know that I just posted about our Giveaway: BOOMTOWN BONANZA!
I was hoping you would leave a comment and also post about it to your blog to send your readers over for a chance to win a signed copy of Boomtown along with a signed Boomtown map! Would you please do that for me? I would appreciate it so much.
Thank you!

ReplyDeletei followed ur blog i dont know what ir means but i did it anyway
i only buy pumps for the same reason. Walmart has tres-seme (large size with a pump) and I just refill it. I will purposely only buy the pump. It's nice to hear I am not alone in my must have a pump bottle for shampoo/conditioner/lotion/handsoap,dish soap, etc etc etc. :)
ReplyDeleteAre you really in England now??? wow!
ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard, I cried through your whole post, Kasie! ROFLOL! You have a gift for being a literary genius and describing things so well.
ReplyDeleteOk so I've been thinking about this dilema of yours with the shampoo bottles. I don't think you need a pump. I think you need a funnel. I think if you just used them as refills into normal sized shampoo and conditioner bottles all your troubles would be over, no?
