How About I Give Away a Book

I haven't been reading a lot of (published) books in the last two weeks. I've been editing for friends. Have I mentioned I love to edit (other people's books)? I do. It's fun for me. So anyway, no review today. How about instead I give away a book! Yes?

One of my favorite reads last year was WOLVES BOYS AND OTHER THINGS THAT MIGHT KILL ME by Kristen Chandler.

Here is the post where I gush about it. You should read this book. Though the title might suggest otherwise, this is a contemporary. No werewolves. Actual wolves. So if you want to win a signed copy of this book, leave me a comment about why you think real wolves (or werewolves) are awesome.

Tweet about this contest for a second entry. I'll announce the winner next Wednesday. Good luck!

  1. real wolves are awesome because the mascot at my kids' school is a timberwolf. they will be t-wolves for their entire elementary, middle, and high school career!

  4. Wolves are beautiful. All silver fur and blue eyes and raw grace. And they travel in packs - there's something about animals that have connections and relationships like that that makes them more likable than, say, coyotes.

  5. Jennifer, Hey! Nice to see you in my comments section. I didn't know you had a twitter account. I will now proceed to stalk you there. :)

RSJ, Grandma, what big teeth you have. lol Love it. Was that what you were referencing or was that just what my mind went straight to?

Heidi, I totally agree. We get coyotes out here in the country. Blech. :)

  6. I remember that review and since my book budget has been reduced to zero for a while, it would be great to win one.

  8. Patti, I will enter you even though you didn't say anything cool about wolves. Sigh. You are such a rule breaker. :)

  9. First of all I'm unabashedly Team Jacob. I've been attending all the Borders store closings in the L.A. area just to pick up Jacob merch.

Okay now on to actual wolves.

I love all creatures canine for the #1 reason that they're extremely warm-blooded and I'm cold ALL the time.

+1 extra entry for tweeting (RT of yours)

  10. Oh! You know? I wasn't going to enter because I thought it was a werewolf book. But if we're talking contemporary...ENTER ME! Now I am excited!

I love wolves! The Loop by Nicolas Evans is one of my favorite books. Wolves are awesome because they are beautifully dangerous things.

  12. I don't really think werewolves are cool, but I think the title of this book is way cool and I want to win it. Can I enter anyway. I'm even going to tweet about the giveaway right now.

  15. I love wolves because of the way they live in families and take such good care of their children.

  16. I grew up in Wyoming where ranchers have a not-so-nice image of wolves. This may sound horrid, but knowing the destruction they can cause on animals much larger than them gives me a healthy fear of wolves.

They are neat animals and I've heard their howls in Yellowstone many times.

  17. Wolves are awesome because they're beautiful, powerful and intelligent. They have a complex communication system involving facial expressions, body language and vocal noises which is similar to ours, and few other species have that. They're the largest wild canine, have extremely powerful jaws and can run up to about 35 miles per hour. They're really sociable animals that live in family groups. They can understand heirarchies and each play their own roles in a group. If that doesn't make them awesome, I don't know what does!

  18. I'll let others enter the contest, but people who know me know my love of wolves - my respect for them :-D -- I wear a silver wolf necklace everywhere! And an old childhood friend of mine made me a necklace from a thousands of years old wolf's head arrowhead -oh!

I used to have a wolf's howl on my old blog but it went bye bye.

I often end emails to friends with AWOOOO! *laugh*

Ah wolves - so gorgeous and misundersood and fierce and beautiful!

Werewolves are sexy except when they're tearing out a throat *laugh*

  19. Wow. I read this book in January--a borrowed copy--and, oh man, the VOICE. It's such a cute, sweet, funny book that I absolutely adored. (The title is what pulled me in, initially.)
    Why are were/wolves awesome?
It's not hard to answer this one, the hard part is fitting it into one comment! Real wolves are troopers, always making it through. And werewolves? Well, the good ol' fashioned ones are troopers, too! They live average lives, except one night a month they undergo absolute /agony/,being vicious bloodthirsty monsters. But they overcome it, still being capable of normalcy, of love.
I may not live anywhere near and real wolves--or werewolves-- but they're awesomesauceness. (And that is a phrase reserved only for myself, my book, my favorite authors, and <3Puck<3)
    Thanks for the SIGNED giveaway!

  21. I haven't read this book yet. It's been on my TBR list forever though. It sounds so cute.
Believe it or not, I've always loved Wolves. My family used to go to Yellowstone when we were little and my dad would tell me all about the wolves there. I'd always watch out the window of our mini-van hoping to catch a glimpse of one, but sadly my childhood dreams were always crushed and I never saw one.
So they just took me to the zoo instead. ;)

  22. I haven't seen this novel before. It looks awesome. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

  23. Wolves are cool until they rip your throat out and feast on your heart.

  24. Well, look what I just stumbled upon today!! Woot woot!!! You know I love a good book so why do I think wolves are awesome...hmmm...I sort of hate dogs which wolves are similar. Well, I sort of hate all pets so this is going to be difficult!

Okay, I'm going with werewolves and the most obvious reason: MUSCLES AND HEIGHT!! Apparently when making the transition into a werewolf you become much larger in your human form as well. Who doesn't love a tall, strong, oh and also warm man??

BTW, love Love LOVE your book! I finished weeks ago and keep neglecting to get on and tell you this! Loved the ending but really wish I had the sequel to start! hint hint
