ER visits are fun

So last night as my daughter was moving some things around in the garage, a weight dropped onto her foot. She said (very calmly, I might add), "Ouch, I just dropped that on my foot. It hurt."

I said, "You'll be fine. Shake it off."

She said, "It hurt really bad." (again, in a very even, calm voice)

I said, "Okay, I'll get you some ice."

I went in the house, grabbed some ice, then came back to my husband saying, "I don't think ice is going to cut it."

That's when I saw this (only with a lot more blood):

(Sorry if you're grossed out but I actually had to see that thing in real life.)

And he was right. That was definitely not anything ice could fix. So off we went to the ER. (where the tears finally came) I almost cried too when I saw the size of the needle the doctor used to numb her. It was massive. But anyway, she's fine. An x-ray, 3 shots, antibiotics, and 8 stitches--just the way we all like to spend a Sunday evening.

This is just another piece of evidence to add to the very long list of Why Weights Are Evil.

  1. Ouch! Poor girl! I hope she's feeling better this morning. My boys would've been screaming. Tell her she's one tough chick. :)

  2. Oh my gosh! Poor girl! And Jenn is right, she is one tough chick! and weights are truly evil. I cried like a baby when I stubbed my toe on one, and there was no blood. Which is why I am a big baby. I think she needs lots and lots of ice cream and chocolate to feel better.

  3. Yikes I can't even comprehend that kind of pain, poor girl!

  4. Oh my....I hate pain...blood and er visits. I am so glad it wasn't worse...the pictures were important. And I think I should go back to bed so that I don't get injured....I should wear a hard hat wherever I go

  5. Weights ARE evil. I stub my toe almost daily on my husband's never-used five-pound barbells by the bed. I hate them and will now throw them out (if I don't hurt myself).

  6. Um, yay for being brave in the face of pain? I hopped over from the WriteOnCon "Lucky 13s" post! Your advice was great. :) And the cover for PIVOT POINT is swoon-worthy.

  7. Yes, ewe gross. I bet you are having a better Sunday today. Actually, blood doesn't REALLY gross me out very much. I used to clean wounds and other disgusting things. Writing is more fun.
