I've Missed You, T.V.

I rarely watch T.V. anymore. It's not that I don't want to. I love to be entertained. Really, I do. But these days, with the constant programming going on in my head, I would rather spout my own stories (thus helping me achieve my ultimate goal of becoming the most narcissistic person I know) than watch stories on television. There is one show however, that always manages to pull me away from the inner workings of my mind and back to the long neglected spot on the couch. That show is American Idol. Perhaps it is my love of music, perhaps I secretly have a thing for Simon, perhaps I enjoy seeing new talent discovered and the raw emotion it creates in hopeful future stars. I admit, it is all of those things. But I must confess to one more...I am drawn to American Idol because I love to laugh. I LOVE to laugh. And, boy, do I! Especially during these first few weeks. I want to personally thank all the American Idol contestants who make complete and total fools of themselves purely for my entertainment. I know most of them do it just to get on television and are fully aware of the obvious fact that they can't sing. I'm okay with this knowledge. I'm perfectly fine with it as long as they can make me laugh. So please, don't let the fact that the whole world will mock you for days on end stop you. The more tone deaf the better, I say. Sing, people, sing (preferably on television so that I can laugh at you).

Yes, Simon, that's how I feel and I love it!

  1. The first few weeks are my favorite! Once they get to the good singers? Eh. It's okay.

I find myself watching less TV, too. I can entertain myself incredibly well.

  2. LOL, I'm with you Kasie. I have never watched it from the very beginning, last year I watched the end and decided that I needed to try a whole season. I'm glad I did, it is hilarious. I appreciate the contestants willingness to put it all out there so that I can have a good chuckle. :D Yay for T.V.!

  3. This is the ONE show I've never seen. Isn't that crazy? And last year was the most desperate I've ever been to wanting to watch it. Especially with Brooke and David! Yikes! I would watch uploaded episodes on youtube, I was that wishing I had a TV! LOL!

  6. Like giddymomof6, I've never seen American Idol. I'm sure it would make me laugh, and I would love it. I don't watch TV, though, and we only get a few stations, so I'll stick to writing and laughing at myself.

So glad something makes you laugh! Maybe one day I'll have to sneak over and watch an episode...

  7. Simon is so funny. That is, when he's not being nasty. Although, sometimes his being mean is what's funny.

I haven't really watched this year. With all the writing and reviewing and reading and editing and blogging, I've about cut TV out.

  8. I'm just commenting to take a break from preschool. Because let's face it, there's no writing going on with 4 four-year-olds running around the house! I have about 5 shows on my Tivo to watch right now. I just can't seem to get caught up on my TV watching right now. LOL

Jenn, yes, all hale the funny contestants. Keep em coming.

Jenni, WHAT???? What am I going to do with you? You need an American Idol education. YouTube is a good start. LOL

Terri, yay, a fellow addict. I loved the finalists this last year, they were soo good.

  10. Angie, you should catch a bit more in these first few weeks, because it is hilarious.

Lady Glam, you should definitely add it to your list of shows you will probably never get around to watching. LOL Yeah, it's fun to laugh. But, back to writing.

Lotus, Simon is funny. And usually right. He makes me laugh too.

Candi, I cannot condone this. You have a book to write. LOL

  11. Dude, I love Idol! I'm always so inspired by those people that are so passionate about what they do, and they are pursuing it with everything they have.

I feel such a common bond with them. It's like, "I totally know what you are going through, man!"

  12. Renee, exactly. We are on the same page here. Except we hope we're not the ones that Simon says, "Don't give up your day job," too.

  13. Oh, yes, this is a long forgotten, but still any and interesting show. Though a lot of people are probably more interested in having fun and older hookups now, so I would recommend everyone to take a look at the unique place on the OneNightFriend site. You just can't imagine how many mature sexy ladies want to meet right now. A lot of people really like it, so don't miss your chance and join right now.
