My Other Half

The editing half of me and the creative half of me can not coexist. You see, the creative half of me thinks all my ideas are brilliant, funny, and worth writing. The editing side is self-doubting, critical, and thinks all ideas are ridiculous and laughable. So the editor in me has taken over for the last few weeks and refuses to let me post. I'm dying here. Now please excuse me while I read this post 5 times and cut out all the dumb parts.

  2. Is that kind of like saying an author divided cannot write? I'm in full on editing mode right now which means my word count has come to a grinding halt, but I edited 100 pages yesterday! Woohoo!!

  3. Hee, hee. I'm not laughing at YOU, I'm laughing at US - all writers everywhere. We're all schizophrenic when it comes to our writing/editing Jekyll and Hyde personalities. Tell the editor in you to take a vacation, somewhere nice, perhaps the Greek Isles. That's where I'd like to send mine, of course I'd have to go along to chaperone...

Then get back to writing and completely amaze yourself.;-)

  4. Inner Editor has a way of demanding control! She scares me.

On the other hand, she's usually right. Dang it.

    Hang in there, Kasie. :)

  6. Ack, same problem. My muse and my inner editor have regular brawls, leaving me stuck in the middle. Ah, well. I just put them in time-out and continue working. Or I try, anyway...

  9. Nat, I know, I know. I'm trying and feeling very uninspired.

Candi, you go, girl. Edit those pages so that I can read them.

Debra, Yes, next week I will tell her. This week I need her badly. My blog will just have to suffer in the mean time.

  10. Renee, I know, she always is. (And she's sooo scary)

Kevin, where are your posts? Huh? When I see some, then maybe you can start complaining again.

Jen, hmmm, time-outs, I'll have to try that. I have a feeling they will work just as well as they do with my children. LOL

  11. Linda, yes, I'm trying. Full editor mode right now. That's why the blog is falling by the way side.

Michelle, sigh, I'm glad I'm not alone.

  15. Why does Editor have to be such a stick in the mud? Does Editor ever come up with brilliant, creative ideas? No, I don't think so. Tell Editor you will call when he's needed.

  16. My creative voice tends to stomp on my editor voice and then I have to send it to time out and my editor voice cries and then I have to make them give each other hugs and say they are sorry and then finally all is well... wait, what were we talking about? kids, right? :P
