Procrastination is fun!

So I'm going out of town tomorrow (for those of you who have been waiting for this opportunity to steal my valuable stash of Junior Mints.....or my children.....my big, burly, cranky brother and his wife and children will be staying at my house so you should probably wait for a better time.) and as usual I have left almost everything I need to accomplish until today. Maybe it's just my way of justifying my procrastination, but I really do work best under pressure. So, while I'm mowing the front lawn, finishing up laundry, packing (oh, buying a suitcase first), cleaning the toilets, the kitchen, the shower, the car......think of me. All this so my sister in law doesn't think I'm a huge slob. (It's a lot of work to make yourself look better than you are.)

But it's worth it. I'm off to New York to meet my agent! Wahoo! And since I have several long plane rides over the next week, one of the most important chores of the day is to pick which books I'm going to bring. So here's my TBR pile:

What should I bring my readerly friends??

  1. Divergent, Wither, and Lips Touch. I'm a "let's bring an extra book or two just in case" traveler.

  6. Because I know you like contemp, I gotta pipe up for Sean Griswold's Head. I LOVED it. LIPS TOUCH is gorgeous. INK EXCHANGE is dark and moody and cool.

  7. Why do we work so hard to impress others? Ha ha. I agree on Divergent. It's supposed to be great!

  8. The only one I've read is Ink Exchange, but I've heard good things about Divergent. Looking forward to hearing about your trip.

  9. Ooh, nice stack. I really enjoyed Divergent. Plus, it's big so it will last all those traveling hours.

  12. I vote for Blackveil. I loved it, and cannot wait for the next. But I can't recommend it if you haven't read the other books in front of it. It definitely builds.

  13. I love that everyone is recommending a different book in the pile. :) I'm going to end up taking the whole stack.

Nat, thanks for sticking up for my contemporary love. :)

Rena, yes, I have read the first four? Three? However many there are before this one, I have read them. I'm glad you liked it. I've heard mixed reviews so I haven't been too excited to dive in, but yay.

    Sigh. Back to my chores.

  15. I'm getting a panic attack just looking at all those options. Decisions make me crazy. My choices are usually made by something totally irrelevant. Like, I'd pick the one with the biggest letters. Looks like Divergent is the winner.

  16. Awesome! Enjoy your visit with your ... what did Linda call her? Oh yeah... "pocket agent". You're living the dream. Enjoy it.

  17. I wish I had a shiny new pile of books to choose from. I might be jealous. (But not of the fact that you are flying to New York to meet your agent. That I am not jealous of.) (No, I'm not.)

  18. Just bring em all! Isn't that why you're buying a new suitcase, for your books? What would you call that anyway...a book-case. Okay, enough bad jokes. Of course I'm not coming, so you'll only have to bring books for one, so maybe you don't actually need a book-case. (We both know I rely on you for my vacation reading!)

P.S. Is it weird that I'm going to miss you even though we already live 2000 miles apart? Have a fantastic, marvelous trip. I just hope NYC is ready for you again. :)

  19. Here is my favorite...(It's a lot of work to make yourself look better than you are.)

what a great line. And oh boy is it true...

take all the books, if nothing else it makes you look so cool.

  20. After all this talk about *which* books I should bring, I almost forgot the whole stack. (Which would've been tragic) So I had to sneak into my room early in the morning (my sister in law and brother are staying in my room while I'm away). It was pitch black so I just grabbed the top five. That made my decision easy.

Thanks for all your recommendations. It sounds like I'm going to like my entire TBR pile which makes me really happy.

Candi, Ha ha ha: Book-case. I will use that term and confuse everyone. :)

And Donna, it's true, isn't it? So exhausting. :)

  21. Guess it's kinda late, but if you're still in the city and need someone to show you the sites, I'd love to meet you! (Even though I should be holed up in my room studying...)
Good luck with your agent meeting (which probably already happened)
