Sooooooooo, um, Pivot Point comes out in 2 weeks. Excuse me while I hyperventilate over here. I feel like I just wrote the post where I was talking about Pivot Point coming out in 3 months. Is that really how fast 3 months passes these days? It's crazy. Anyway, this post isn't about the speed of time or anything. I thought it was probably time that I talk about where I'll be signing in the month of February. I'd love to see you if you're anywhere near these places. My list is short right now, but I hope to visit many more places in the coming year.
February 12th--my hometown book launch in Fresno, CA at Barnes and Noble in Riverpark (7849 N Blackstone Ave) It starts at 6pm.
February 13th--my second hometown book launch in Salt Lake City, UT (I call it my second home because I'm there all the time and my husband grew up in Utah.) It will be at The King's English Bookshop (1511 South 1500 East) at 7pm.
February 14-16--I'll be at LTUE in Provo, UT. (So fun!) They have a group signing there Friday night that I'll be participating in.
February 19th--I'll be signing with Kiersten White (for her book launch of MIND GAMES) at the Carlsbad, CA Library (1775 Dove Lane, Carlsbad, CA 92011) at 7pm.
So please please come to any (or all) of these events so I'm not alone and sad. :) I'm super excited. 2 weeks!!
Also, don't forget to enter my contest below if you've pre-ordered (or plan to pre-order) Pivot Point. Prizes include a Nook or a full manuscript critique!

Is There Another?
So now that the ARCs of Pivot Point have been out in the world (scary) and people have been actually reading it (so. strange.) I've been getting this question: Is there a book 2?
And the answer is, yes there is. It's actually already written. And already sent to copy edits. That is so weird to me. Before being in this stage of the process, I never realized that sequels are pretty much written and done before book 1 even comes into the world. I know it's different for all authors. Some have a tighter schedule and don't have 21 months to wait for their first book to come out. But 18 months to 2 years is a very normal wait. And in that time a lot of writing can happen. For me, I've written both the sequel and two contemporaries. It's nice to have all these written before the pressure of reviews come.
I think this next stage of writing for me is going to have to involve figuring out how to distance myself a bit from that pressure. Any ideas? How do you guys shut the world out while you write? Anyone have any good techniques? I need a 'chill out' playlist or something. Okay, leave me good, relaxing song suggestions that you like to listen to in the comments section. Ready? Set. Go.

Bloggity blogs
So, I've been so busy writing blog posts for other blogs this week that I felt the need to share the links.
Leanne from The Reclusive Reader invited me to talk about some holiday traditions. Check out my post:

And then you must go check out my dare on Friday the Thirteeners today in answer to the challenge: "Do a reenactment of your cover." My genius sister helped me with her amazing photoshop skills. :)

We're meltingggg
Can you really hold out a 'g' like that? If you tried to say that post title out loud it would be more like, melting gah gah gah? Yeah? Anyway, beside the point. The point is: Help, my house has been eaten by this horrible cold virus and we're all dropping like flies.
It's been a long time since I've had to stay up all night with a child. Not since my baby, now six, really was a baby. It was a little nostalgic holding him at four am. I had forgotten how quiet and peaceful life is in the still of the night. There's lots of time to think and be grateful. And I am. I am so grateful for everything I've been blessed with. Especially the people in my life. My family. I'm also so grateful for all the support I've been getting for Pivot Point. I really appreciate all the love and kind words sent my way. It means so much to me that one, people take the time to read my book, but that two, they reach out and give me encouraging messages and kind thoughts. It means more than you know. I actually started this post to just say, sorry, sick kids, the blog will be a bit sparse this week. But I got all sappy there for a minute. That sometimes happens when I'm overly tired. :)
Hopefully next week I'll be back to my regular blog schedule. And stay tuned because I'm getting ready to start some fun giveaways here. Yay for free stuff.

Looking Back and Forward
Happy New Year, Everyone!!
Since I usually do reviews on Wednesday, I thought it would be fun to look back at my favorite reads of 2012 and then forward to books I can't wait to read in 2013.
Some of my 2012 favs:

Some of my 2012 favs:
Under the Never Sky is a book that sat in my TBR pile forever and I'm sad about that because I love it so so much. But now less time to wait for book 2! Yay!
Cinder was a really cool take on Cinderella. So unique and original. I adored this book.
I feel lucky to have read a lot of books before they hit the shelves this coming year. Madman's Daughter was one of my favorites. This should definitely be on your wish list for the coming year.
Taken, as well, was a very cool read. I really enjoyed this book. It kept me up way past my bedtime.
Loved this book. It's another must read for 2013!
Now. On to books I can't wait to get my greedy hands on:
This book is arriving on my doorstep any second now! I will read it as soon as I have it! So excited. (Happy Book Birthday, Ellen!!)
Yes. Please.
It feels like forever ago since I read Everneath, book 1 in this series. I loved it so much and have been waiting ever since to get a hold of book 2. And here it is, right around the corner. So excited!
Dualed sounds so awesome. I can't wait to read it.
I read a very early version of this book (since Natalie is a crit partner of mine) and I love it. I can't wait to see it all shined up and even better!
Jenn, another crit partner of mine, writes the most creepily awesome books ever. Again, I've read an early version of this book and can't wait to be scared all over again when I can hold it in my hands.
I am a huge Sarah Dessen fan. I have read everything she's written and will continue to read everything she chooses to write. I can't wait for this book!
There are a lot of other books I can't wait for as well. I'll be doing another one of these posts mid-year for all the summer/fall releases. :)
